So many women come to me wanting to lose weight. They say they know what they “should” do, they just don’t do it. They say “I’m just an emotional overeater with no willpower”. They say, “I wish I could just stop thinking about food all the time.” When we dig into it, they are tired of feeling shame about their bodies, shame about what or how they ate last night, and feeling like they are broken or simply not good enough. They truly think losing weight is the answer.
It breaks my heart and pisses me off. It also fuels my passion for sharing my message- you can heal your relationship with food and your body. It is completely possible to have freedom, balance and SATISFACTION in your relationship with food. You are not broken AND you are valuable and worthy of love and respect, no matter what size your jeans are or what the number is on the scale. What about the weight? Spoiler- it’s not the number on the scale that you need to drop. It is the weight of the lies the diet industry is selling you that is the real problem. It is the mental, emotional and spiritual weight of the cultural conditioning that we carry. It’s the heaviness of the message that we are not good enough just as we are. It is the harmful message that we are broken and can’t be trusted with food that the diet industry sells us. It is the weight of shame we carry so they can profit $166 billion a year. It is the weight of trying to fit into their boxes. It is the weight of carrying the blame for not dieting hard enough. It is an act of rebellion to love yourself as you are. All you have to do is simply drop the weight of the boxes. You will feel a million times lighter, you will finally be free. Intuitive Eating is the way to freedom from the shame.
